Play The Fortress Mahjong Solitaire Online
Conquer the fortified four-tower citadel in this classic 144-tile 3D puzzle.
đ° The Fortress Layout Architecture & Battle Tactics
The Fortress is an imposing, defensive Mahjong Solitaire layout reminiscent of ancient medieval citadels. Built with exactly 144 authentic tiles across 5 vertical elevations, it features four elevated corner watchtowers, outer curtain walls, and a formidable central multi-tiered keep.
Like all classic Shanghai puzzles, the objective is to clear all 144 tiles by pairing identical free tiles. A tile is free when it has no tile resting on top and has at least one open lateral edge (left or right).
đ Mastering the Fortress: 4 Strategic Priorities
1. Demolish the Corner Watchtowers First
Each corner bastion stands 3 to 4 tiles high. Because the top tiles block lower tiers from being accessed, pairing watchtower tiles immediately expands your available move options across the board.
2. Break Through Curtain Wall Bottlenecks
The long north and south curtain walls (rows y=1 and y=15) can trap dozens of inner courtyard tiles. Always prioritize outer wall matches whenever they become free.
3. Uncover the Central Keep
The citadel in the centre rises into a pyramid crown. Clearing the middle layers steadily prevents late-game dead ends and exposes hidden wildcard tiles.
4. Protect Your High-Tier Matches
Never burn a matching pair from the base perimeter if one of those tiles could be paired with a tile trapped atop an elevated tower.
